Buying Meat In bulk from Community Foods

Last month I was able to review a local company that sells and distributes wholesale, top quality, fresh food, direct from the farm-to-consumer (chicken, lean ground beef, tilapia, and seasonal fruits and vegetables) Called Community Foods.   By eliminating the middle-man of grocery stores and wholesale clubs, and delivering to common pick-up points within the community, they’re able to bring customers better prices than they would be able to find anywhere else. For example, my delivery, they were selling boneless/skinless chicken breasts for $1.69/lb. I have never used a service like this before, however I do remember my grandmother often buying meat like this when I was younger.  Like most people I tend to just buy my meats at the grocery store.   The process is very simply. I was able to go to the website and find a date and location that is close to me and place an order.

The day of the pickup was Princess Jada’s birthday! As always I was running behind.  I was worried that when I got there I would have to wait in a long line.  I was thinking this is just what I needed today! However that was not the case! We pulled up and told them our name and they loaded my box of chicken in the trunk.  It literally took 2 minutes.  They even provided me some tips on how to store and bag the chicken.  I admit I had no clue what I was going to do with 40lbs of chicken! I mean it’s no secret that we love our chicken but I have never had that much at one time.  The chicken came in came with four, 10-pound bags of chicken breasts, so you’ll have the opportunity to portion out and refrigerate or freeze your chicken in whatever amounts you want. I decided to take 5 breasts at a time and bag them.  I kept one bag out and froze the others.   The next night I decided that I was going to grill the bag of chicken I left out.  I was very shocked how much better taste this chicken had compared to the “grocery store chicken”.  Even my kids noticed.

All-Natural Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breasts have the following unbeatable qualities:

• Hormone-Free
• Gluten-Free
• No Additives or Artificial Ingredients
• No Size Enhancing Agents Such as Salt, Broth or Seaweed Extract
• Free Roaming Environment

After talking to friends and family we have decided that we should start going in half and splitting the cost and start buying in bulk more.  The only thing that when the sales go up they sell out FAST! So you can’t wait till the last minute to place an order.  I was very impressed with the quality and service!  I admit I never thought I would be buying meat like this but now I am happy to say I really think this is the best way!  I also love that it’s a local company so I love the fact that I am giving back to the local farmers around here.

So do you ever buy your meats in bulk?
