DimensionU makes learning math fun!

I know I am not alone when I say technology has taken over our house!  I have been noticing more and more how much my kids are actually spending on the computer playing games or watching youtube videos! However, despite my best efforts to motivate the kids, learning often takes a back seat to more attractive entertainment options.  I admit some of the games they play are educational but I’d like them to do more!

I recently learned about a new site called DimensionU.  I was very excited to try it out especially with my oldest daughter Jasmine. DimensionU offers a fun, educational program that allows kids to play an action-packed computer game while simultaneously sharpening their math skills.  Jasmine has always had issues with math. She hates it but loves to play games!  I knew this was going to be PERFECT!

DimensionU has taken math beyond the mundane by creating an exciting outlet for children to learn while earning rewards for their hard work. Through the reward-based ‘EdCred’ Educational Allowance system, DimensionU takes an innovative approach to motivating children to become stronger students. Each week parents can pledge an allowance, which kids can collect once they complete a given educational challenge.  Even if you don’t want to pledge your child can still play for free!

I decided that I was going to pledge half of her weekly allowance.  That way she will still earn her allowance for good behavior and chores.  However, the catch is if she wants the full amount she has to earn it on DimensionU. Each week she gets new challenges.  The Challenge starts just after midnight on Monday and runs until the next Sunday, at midnight. I will admit at first she didn’t like this idea! She didn’t think that it was fair! As she got used to it and actually started playing, she started LOVING IT!   After completing the challenges the EdCreds can be to redeem for a gift card from any of the current partners (Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop).  If you want to learn more make sure to check out www.dimensionu.com/redeem for details on gift card redemption.

As a parent who has struggled to get her motivated in math this is a blessing!  I also love that she can ask family to sponsor her, so she can earn even more money!  Trust me she will be asking and I can promise you everyone will be on board!  Everyone knows how much this child hates math so anything that can and actually helps is worth it! We have also decided to add the other kids involved!

To see and learn more I urge you to read the FAQ!  This is going to be great not only during school months but summer time!!
