It’s just a really fun time, getting to be whatever or whoever you want for a whole night and the best part is going out and getting a bunch of free candy! I never understood as a child what the actual meaning behind Halloween was, why do we celebrate Halloween anyway?! I always just assumed it was just a fun day created so that kids could have a good time and there wasn’t any reasoning. I was wrong! There are reasons why we celebrate Halloween and I’m here to share that with you and explain the history behind the meaning of Halloween.
The name of the holiday, Halloween, is a word that was used to shorten All Hallows’ Evening. Halloween is a traditional holiday in several countries and is said to be the eve of the feast of All Hallow’s Day. The feast was said to be the beginning of a three-day religious celebration of Allhallowtide beginning on October 31st and ending November 2nd. This celebration is used for celebrating the passing of the dead. The focus of this time is to be able to use “humor and ridicule to be confront the power of death!”
