The holidays are approaching quickly! Is it your turn to host the holidays this year and maybe you’re a bit worried? Hosting big gatherings like holiday events can be extremely stressful on a person because you have so many things you need to worry about! Whether it is cleaning up the house and making everything look nice, or cooking and making sure there is enough foods for everyone to go around. Well, I have found that prepping the home for the festivities to come saves not only a lot of time on the actual day but it also saves your sanity a bit because you have so much less to be worried about!
I’m going to be sharing a few holiday hosting tips tips for you on how to prep your home in the week leading up to your gathering to make your life a bit easier on that day!
Clean Ahead of Time:
You will want to take the whole week leading up to your event to clean up the home! If you spread out the cleaning you will not get so overwhelmed with having to clean so much at once and you won’t have to waste time on the actual day preparing and cleaning up your home. You will have so much else to do that day, you don’t need to add cleaning as well!
Hide Things:
If you have a lot of expensive things or things you wouldn’t want people to touch or play with, especially children, take the time to put them away or hide them until your gathering is over! You will not have to worry about anything getting broken or lord forbid come up missing. We all know, sometimes kids take things because they don’t know any better.
Prep the Fridge:
So, chances are that since you are hosting the event, you will probably have a ton of food left over, it’s inevitable. So, you will want to prep your fridge for storing all of these leftovers. Clear out anything that you may not need in there anymore such as things that are outdated, you haven’t touched in quite some time, or maybe they’re just older. You’ll need plenty of room for those leftovers!
Add Decoration:
If your home is not one that has a ton of decoration or flair, try spicing it up a bit! Add little things here and there throughout the home such as flowers or pictures. You can also add little things of potpourri or air fresheners throughout the home to add good scents and more of a homey feel to your home.
Prep Restrooms:
Make sure that all of your restrooms in the home are prepped for use. Just be sure that they have proper amount of toilet paper, toilet brushes, and hand towels and soap as well! The last thing you’ll want is for someone to go to use the restroom and have to ask you for something to go in there. Just be prepared!
I know hosting a holiday event can be really stressful but I really hope that these tips help you to prep your home and make things a bit less on the stressful side. You will be the hostess with the mostest and be a lot less stressed while you do it!
