Many women I know look forward to the month of May for two separate but equally exciting days: Mother’s Day, when many women are treated to big, wonderful Mothers Day gift baskets; and Cinco De Mayo, when many women are treated to big, wonderful margaritas! But if you’re like me, May is exciting for another reason as well—blooming flowers! May is a big month for floral enthusiasts, as four distinctly beautiful flowers rise to meet the sunshine:
Azaleas

Azaleas belong to the Rhododendron genus and have been bred for hundreds of years because of their brilliant, flashy colors. As a result of their popularity, there areover 10,000 hybrids of this pretty shrub and they first appear inMay.
Daffodils

Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers because of their unique, delicate disc-shaped corona and wonderful fragrance. Daffodils have been celebrated since the time of the Ancient Greeks, who thought the plant symbolized youth and, sadly, unrequited love.
Dogwoods

Popular as an ornamental tree, Dogwoods produce luxurious colors in May and can grow up to 35 feet in height. Dogwoods create incredible canopies that are beautiful during spring and fall. May is when they first start showing their true colors.
Roses

No flower is as popular as the rose, but few people understand how much care and love roses require in order to express their full beauty and fragrance. May is the first month that roses bloom and they create a near endless variety of colors and sizes.
There’s many reasons to be happy in May if you’re a mother, a lover of margaritas, or a flower enthusiast. Perhaps, if you’re lucky enough, you can carve out some time to visit your community’s most well-kept nurseries and experience the true glory of spring blooming
