As a working mom with three children all under the age of eight, I thought car shopping would be a nightmare—as I refused to buy an SUV. I have nothing against the behemoth road monsters but they simply aren’t my style. I thought finding a sedan that could offer luxury, a sporty appeal, and safety and comfort for the kids would be a hard-pressed mission…until I test-drove my neighbor’s LS. When my husband got home from the office I told him it was a great family car that offered everything on my wish list. At first he criticized it as being a car void of safety features for “well-to-do” suburbanites, but once he got behind the wheel, we soon found ourselves sitting at the purchasing table with the sales manager.
Take it from a mom when it comes to safety
I am as picky as they come. And if I’m going to invest in a car for my family, it better hit every “must have” feature on my wish list. Number one, it must be safe but not have the poor aesthetic appeal of a tiny moving reinforced bunker. I work hard for a living, and when I have to commute to work and haul the kids around I want my car to reflect the way I feel—classy and sporty and not bloated and slow. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety rated the frontal offset test results and rear crash protection results as being good. Furthermore, the LS comes with the following safety features:
· Driver and passenger air bag
· Side and rear head airbags
· Side and rear body airbag
· 4-Wheel ABS
· 4-Wheel disc brakes with front disc and rear drum brakes
· Brake assist
· Electronic stability control
· Child safety locks
· Daytime running lights
· Integrated turn signal mirrors
· Traction control
The LS is the ultimate in luxury as well as safety. I have had my LS for only a few months now, and I feel like a member or royalty every time I drive because it makes me feel like a queen as well as protected like one. Visit a Lexus Ct dealership and test drive the LS and you will easily identify.
Don’t buy into old news
Before I purchased my new Lexus LS (I named her Beatrice) I read some less than flattering reviews on older models. However, the 2013 model has been re-designed to the point that Car & Driver can’t stop singing its praise—they say the re-design has taken the LS from “applesauce to something near aggressive”. The author states that half of the LS’s 6000 components are new, and the successful modernization of the car’s design has amped up the styling, offers creative comforts and lots of character.
Your car is a reflection of you
We have all heard the expression “our home is our castle”, as its character and design reflects the personalities of those who live betwixt its walls. Your car, whether you admit it or not, reflects the driver in the same way. When I drive my Lexus LS I know I am representing my true self: I am a hard-working mom. I have class and style. I am sporty. I ensure the safety of my children, and I listen to Brahms while refusing to break for yellow lights.
