I’m always looking for fun and creative things to do with my kids. However, since they are getting older, I find myself struggling with new and exciting things to do with them. So when we were at the crafts store last weekend, I was shocked that they asked for tie-dye! I hate to admit it, but tie-dying is one fun and creative thing we have never done together!
So we picked up the largest tie-dye kit we could find, plus white shirts for everyone. When we got home, they couldn’t wait to get started. I was actually excited that they wanted to include me since they all had friends over. The only issue is I had no clue what I was doing! It’s been years since I did this, so let’s just say I mostly watched and learned while, of course, enjoying our ice-cold Coca-Cola. The kids kept begging me to at least try, so I finally gave in. I will openly admit that tie-dying is not one of my strong suits! However, the kids really enjoyed making jokes at my expense!
The truth is, everyone had a blast, and I admit I was impressed with how well everyone caught on (expect me). After they completed their shirts, they started looking for anything and everything they could find to tie-dye! By the end of the night, we had tie-dye shirts, bags, socks, and towels! My youngest wanted to do their shoes, but we ran out of dye! So that’s first on their list for next time!
The older girls decided they wanted to put their names on their shirts after they dried, which was something I could actually handle! LOL! So I pulled out my beloved Cricut and vinyl, and made monograms they could iron on.
The finished projects turned out great! However, the best part for me was hearing the kids talk about how much fun they had. They have even planned to do some more shirts this weekend!
