Dora the Explorer is an animated television series that is currently carried on the Nickelodeon television network. Dora has also expanded and been featured in many DVD’s and VHS tapes. The pilot episode for the show series originally aired in 1999 and in the year 2000 the show Dora the Explorer became a regular on the Nickelodeon network.
In just about every episode you’ll find that Dora goes exploring on a trip and she either discovers something or helps somebody. She encourages her viewers to assist her in getting to her final destination with the aid of a map. In addition to exploration, Dora attempts to teach a couple of Spanish words to children in each episode.
Every little girl I know just loves Dora the Explorer, and my two nieces ages four and seven are no exception. They absolutely adore Dora. My daughter who is now sixteen used to watch Dora until she was around 11! She won’t admit it, but I think she still secretly watches the show. Anyway, all three of the girls enjoyed watching one of Dora’s recent DVD’s. Dora’s Ballet Adventures.
The DVD is actually a compilation of four what I personally like to call mini episodes, for a total of 95 minutes of viewing time. The episodes included are:
- Dora’s Ballet Adventure: So, Dora’s dance class is working hard at getting ready for a very special dance recital and her entire family is going to be there to watch her performance. Dora just has to wait for the Delivery Duck to deliver the ballet slippers. But oh no! The Delivery Duck brings scuba flippers instead of ballet slippers! Dora and her faithful companion Boots must get the slippers before the dance recital begins.
- Dora, La Músico: It’s a musical parade! Come and join the fun! Dora and Boots are leading a the parade over the Piano Bridge and through the Singing Gate in order to free the instruments that have been locked up by the evil Señor Shhh!
- The Super Silly Fiesta: Dora and Boots have been invited to the Big Red Chicken’s Super Silly Fiesta where they will take part in silly snacks, silly games, silly hats and even silly dancing. But, tragedy has set in; the Big Red Chicken lost his party cake! Dora and Boots must jump in and help save the fiesta. They search for a really long time and eventually they find the cake in one of the silliest places or strangest places Big Red Chicken could have left it – get this, on his head!
- Surprise: Hey guess what? It’s Boots’ birthday! Dora lets her friend know that all of his friends are waiting at her house because they want to give Boots a huge party. In order to reach Dora’s house, they will have to climb a really long flight of Stairs and cross the Troll Bridge.
For Dora fans everywhere you can purchase the DVD at Amazon or the Nick Shop for $13.99.
