A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you about the Tyson School Year Survival Guide. As Promised I am back to update you on some of the Tips my family decided to use from the guide to get some order in the house! With Basketball season in full force things have become really crazy around here! Then adding the fact I have sick kids in the mix is not helping! Thanks to the Survival Guide I have seen some improvement in our hectic schedule!
Since we already use a few of the tips like technology and weekly planners to keep up with our schedule I decided to put the effective study time tips in our plan. I will be the first to admit during our busy basketball season we don’t always spend the quality time like we should be studying. I usually make the kid’s start their homework as soon as they walk in the door! However Tyson’s School Year Survival Guide recommends giving them at least a 30 minute break before starting. I admit I didn’t know how well this one would work. I was worried that the kids wouldn’t want to do their homework afterwards. However, I am happy to report that we actually got better results. Each of the kids seemed more focused. So when they came home I would have a warm high protein snack like Tyson Anytizers ready each afternoon. They would eat, watch TV, and share everything that happened that day in school.

The kids loved Homestyle Chicken Fries and the boneless chicken wings. To be honest I would have never thought about these making great after school snacks till now. Afterwards we would all sit down at the kitchen table and do homework together! Usually I would sit with them one on one doing homework. Which now I look back and think wow I actually lost a lot of time by doing it that way! Having them all sit down together cut time and actually led them to be more focused on schoolwork instead of worrying about what the other siblings was doing!
I also knew that as a busy mom I had to make some changes for me! So when I saw that Tyson had put a special rejuvenation tips section for parents, I knew this was made for people like me! Let’s face it as parents we get so busy with work, kids, and everything else we forget about ourselves! So seeing this was a reminder that I needed to start taking more time out of the day FOR ME! I am happy to say that I am now finding a whole hour a day just for me. I do have to split it up but I will be the first to tell you it’s so worth it! I get up early to get my workout in. This allows me to wake up and enjoy some me time before getting the kids up for the morning rush! The first couple of mornings were hard! I really wanted to stay in bed those extra 30 minutes! However, now I can honestly say I feel so much better. Then at the end of the day when I put the kids in their room for free time before bed, I started journaling. This allows me to get all my thoughts, feelings and goals out on paper. I used to do this before I started blogging but stopped! I really feel this was important to start back. Plus I like that it’s private and Just for my eyes!
I really encourage everyone to go check out the School Survival guide and put some of these tips to use! Also make sure to try Tyson Anytizers for after school snacks! Your kids will love them! And you can be happy that you are giving them a healthy high protein snack instead of the usual junk that most kids come home and grab afterschool!

With the Holidays here it’s time to start dreaming, hoping, hinting and wishing for the perfect gift! I must admit that my top Christmas wish this year is the 2013 Sorento in either black or this red! I think it’s safe to say I won’t be getting this for Christmas but hopefully I will be able to get it the first of year at least! I have had my eyes on the Sorento for a while now! So I think it’s time to finally bite the bullet and purchase one.
The only thing that has held me back was the extra payments! I don’t miss car payments! However, I feel this is past due and so worth it! With the kids getting older I feel it’s time to upgrade to something that will allow us more room!
So what is on your Christmas list this year? Do you own a Kia? I would love to hear from you!

As many of you know the last few months I have been participating in the Kotex Tween Ambassador Program. I am sad to say this is my last post in the series. I really enjoyed the last few months sharing tips and hearing about how other moms of tweens and teens handle their daughter’s first period! I also learned that we all handle things different when it comes to talking and preparing our girls. However we do share that one common goal that we want to make these transitions in our daughter’s life as smooth as we can.
This Ambassador program was one of my favorites by far. I totally could relate and connect with other parents that are dealing with the same things. Most bloggers tend to have younger children so we never really see ambassador programs or blog tours to cater around tweens and teens. I feel that this campaign opened up the communication lines between mothers and daughters. My daughter also enjoyed the campaign because I let her help me cover the topics that she felt was important for other moms or tweens that are just starting this process. I am so happy to see that our generation is actually talking more about these issues and preparing girls even before they start their period. I know when I was younger that was just something that was not openly talked about in till you started and even then it was just the basics.
I can’t start to tell you how much I appreciate all Kotex has done to help parents and teens have open conversations about periods on their page at www.kotex.com/tween . This site is a great reference to prepare for your talk with your daughter and then they have www.ubykotex.com/helloperiod that is perfect for tweens and teens that have questions or they can even read other teen’s stories about their period. We need to let these girls know periods are normal and it’s not something they should be embarrassed about.
With the new Kotex tween products specially made for young girls they can carry their pads and tampons in style. by Kotex Tween* pads come in vibrant colors and patterns, have a special cover to ensure they stay dry, plus an absorbent core to lock fluid away and help prevent leaks. These are perfect! My daughter loves them and is not embarrassed to carry them in her bag. So make sure to pick up your daughter some and give them a try!
Remember it’s our job as moms to prepare our girls. As Mother’s we only give our children facts and the truth. Don’t trust anyone else to handle a topic like this that is so important.
I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
