As many of you know by now princess Jada loves doing reviews. So when we were picked to do the Polly pocket review from mom central she was super excited! She has always loved the Polly Pocket line. I remember also playing with them when I was young! It’s one of those toys that always bring memories back when I see them.
As we all know Polly Pockets allows girls to transform ordinary situations into extraordinary adventures with encouraging creative and imaginative play. Let’s face it with so many kids’ playing video games and using other technology as entertainment kids don’t play with toys like we used to growing up! With Polly Pocket’s new line of small dolls and play sets that recently came out they continue to offer delightful and unexpected surprises. In response to feedback from moms and girls, the popular doll line now features a new Stick ‘n’ Play innovation – suction components that ensure a Polly piece won’t get lost again. Girls can enjoy the pint-sized fun at home or on the go as you head hit the road for summer travel!
Jada asked me every day when her package was going to arrive. All I could say soon. One afternoon I heard a knock on my door. I was surprised it was my neighbor, holding a box! Come to find out UPS left our box at her house! Luckily they brought it to me because Jada was really driving me crazy everyday waiting for her Polly Pockets! When I told her what it was her face lit up.
The box included the Polly Pocket Hangout House Playset

and the Polly Pocket Stick N Play Room Assortment of the Patio.

She couldn’t wait to play with it. She played with it the whole afternoon. To be honest I actually thought the excitement would wear off. You know how kids are! However, she has played with them every day since! Jada loves her dolls and playing dress up but I admit technology in this house has taken over. I noticed she don’t really “play” as much as my other kids did. So I am super happy that she is loving these new Polly pocket toys! She has even started saving up her allowance to buy more so she can add to her collection.

I love Polly pockets. They are really fun to play with. Now i want to get the POLLY POCKET™ DRESS-UP PARTY™ Dolls and the Rollercoaster Resort.
As a parent, I love them. I love anything that allows my children to use their imagination. I really think we should bring back all the toys that we as children used to play with. Kids need more real PLAY TIME! I also love the improvements that have been made. The suction feature is genius! Do you know how many pieces I used to lose when I was a child! I am kind of Jealous that all my favorite toys are new and improved!
YES!! YES!! YES!!
You can find Polly pockets almost anywhere! But here are a few places online. shop.mattel.com, Amazon.com and of course Toys R Us

Recently I was invited to review the Southern Living Classic Southern Desserts cookbook. Being from the south and home of the sweet Georgia peach, I am going to say that nobody can do desserts like we do in the south. (LOL) So I was really excited to review this cookbook. My grandmother used to love to bake and cook. She also had tons of cookbooks but her favorite most special recipes mostly came from Southern Living cookbooks and magazines. I admit I’m not really a baker; I always leave this to other people in my family. However, as I am getting older I have started baking more. So I knew this cookbook would come in handy!
With 344 pages there is really something for everyone! I loved that every recipe had colored pictures! Many of the cookbooks I have don’t have pictures because they are all from churches or community fundraiser sales. When I got the book the first thing that stood out was how attractive the book itself was. I also loved the tips and guide to successful baking.
I also loved that it had all my favorite recipes and even some updated versions of the ones my grandmother used to make like the Hummingbird cake that first appeared in the southern living magazine back in 1978! The new one has less sugar and oil, fewer eggs and half the salt! I haven’t had a chance to test it out but that is going to be on my to-do list for next weekend. So make sure you check back to see and hear all about it!

I have always supported Boys & Girls Club of America. When I was younger I spent many afternoons there. Truth is like many children, I don’t know where I would be without them. For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Club of America has provided kids like myself with a safe haven and fun, highly engaging activities to help develop the creativity and confidence necessary to succeed in not only in school but in life! Through programs geared towards education, leadership development, arts and fitness, BGCA helps young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
With the back-to-school season now in full swing, preparations have begun at Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide for the influx of students throughout the year. To make sure all kids, especially those in need, are prepared for academic success this year, BGCA has launched the Tools for Back to School initiative . The campaign includes many activities for the public to support and ensure Clubs have adequate school supplies and materials.

Here is a few ways you can help support their efforts!
I really never ask anything from my readers, but today I am begging you to find it in your heart to at least do one of these to help support these kids, Even if it’s just taking the time to answer the pop quiz questions. If you do have a little extra to donate, even if it’s just $5 just do it. You will be helping a child in need in your community and will also get that warm happy feeling that you get when giving back!
*I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.*

With School starting back it maybe be a great time to start looking for a little extra tutoring for your child. Getting a tutor for your child is a major decision. You want to make sure that you get one that is qualified and experienced in the subject matter in which your child needs help. You wouldn’t want to hire one that specializes in English if your child really needs math tutoring. Here are some ways to determine if your child even needs a tutor and how to find the right one if they could benefit from some extra academic assistance.
Falling Behind
Before you decide on the ideal tutor for your child, it’s important to determine if your child could benefit from a tutor. If the problem is simply that your child doesn’t want to do their homework, a tutor may not be too much help. However, it’s possible that your child isn’t doing their homework because they don’t understand how to do it. Get to the root of the problem of why your child is falling behind in their classes to see if tutoring would make a difference.
Different Subjects
For younger students, there are basic subjects for tutoring, including spelling, arithmetic, grammar and reading. But as your child gets older, the subjects become more specialized. Your child may need chemistry tutoring, history tutoring or some other subjects that require more specific knowledge than with elementary topics. You can even find SAT tutoring to help your high school student prepare for these tests so they can get the best score possible to put them in a better position for being accepted to the college of their choice.
Choosing the Best Tutor
There are many tutors who are available to offer their services, so how do you know which one to choose? The first place to start is by asking your child’s teacher if they have any tutors that they recommend. Some teachers even offer tutoring services after school and the school may even have a free tutoring program. Another place to look is at your local library. Many qualified tutors advertise here so you can find a variety to choose from to fit the academic needs of your child.
Getting some extra academic help for your child is essential if they are falling behind in their studies. With the extreme competitive nature of the job marketplace, they need every advantage they can get and as early as they can get it.
If you are in the Atlanta Area, I highly recommend that you check out http://www.varsitytutors.com/tutoring-atlanta. Varsity Tutors is committed to working closely with you’re your student and family to provide elite, one-on-one tutoring instruction that helps students achieve their academic goals.
