Each year parents are faced with the challenge of making science fun and engaging for children. As science fair season begins, frustrations may arise both at home and in the classroom as kids struggle to not only stay excited about science, but also create an innovative (and painless) science fair display.  To help with these challenges, Scientific Explorer and Elmer’s have partnered to show kids just how easy and fun science, and science fair presentations, should be.

I was lucky enough to be invited to review a Science Fair Prize Package.  Since Dre is now in middle school, we have started doing more projects then before.  I was very happy to do this review and let him decided which one he wanted. We were able to pick either the Lava Blasting Volcano Kit or the Mythbusters Weird World of Water kit.  Of Course Dre picked the Lava Blasting Volcano.

The kit Includes plaster, baking soda, citric acid, red food coloring, 1 measuring cup, 1 measuring spoon, 1 stir stick, 1 volcano mold top, 1 volcano mold base, 1 volcano stand, and activity guide.

Volcanoes are one of the most awesome forces found in nature.  When they erupt – watch out!  They can shoot rocks and gases miles into the air and their lava flows can outrace a speeding car.  Let’s try that at home!  In this kit, you’ll find everything you need to create an amazing volcanic blast.  You’ll cause your own eruption and watch the lava blow!  Plus you’ll learn some really cool science that explains how volcanoes form and why they explode. Volcano can erupt up to 10 times!

 

He was very excited about doing this review. He would come home daily and ask if it had arrived.  When it got here, I had to make him wait till the weekend to get started.  I wanted to also have time to watch him do it.  The weekend finally came and even though he had his cousin over he was still asking when he could do it!  I decided that, I might as well let him do it now or he would drive me crazy till I did.   OFF to the kitchen table we went.  The Set up was pretty simple but we had to wait a full 24 hours for the mold to set.  Dre wasn’t very happy about waiting any longer but the next day he seemed to have got over it when we was able to finish the project.  We were all impressed with the quality of product and will be buying more of these kits.  Not only are these  fun science projects they are also great activities for the whole family to do.

I haven’t let him use the Elmer’s Foam Board or the Elmer’s Project Popperz ® accessories yet. We are going to use those after spring break for his school science project!  I had to hide them from my girls because they wanted them really bad!

Just Dance 2…fun for the whole family! *REVIEW*

If you have a wii and have played just dance, then you know how fun and addicting this game is.  Now That Just Dance 2 is out I must say It’s EVEN BETTER! I really liked the first Just Dance game but this one takes it to a whole new level. There are a lot more songs and the dances are much more challenging.

My kids love this game. It’s great exercise and is helping teach the kids better coordination and rhythm while also getting them up and MOVING! I even have added it as a daily part of my workout plan. It doesn’t feel like working out because it’s so much fun. But you definitely know it’s working after a few songs. The “Just Sweat” feature of the game is a fantastic way to exercise and because each song shows what its “sweat value” is makes it very easy to customize the perfect routine. Also, there are different levels so you can start out nice and easy and work your way toward a more demanding workout. My son does a lot of eye-rolling and snarky comments to me and his sisters but he still is willing to try to out beat our scores lol, however Jasmine seems to be killing us all right now with the highest scores.  Princess Jada is the funniest to watch she gets “all dressed up” to play in her little dress and boots! That girl can kill that Ke$ha – “TiK ToK” and Studio Musicians – “Crazy In Love” dance. I wish I could easily add more recent popular songs so the kids could have their favorites. I did add a few extra ones, but there isn’t a huge selection of what you can buy to add to the catalog. Is e-learning the solution for the busy individual

People are busier than ever, but we still have the desire to improve our lifestyle with a better paying job.  Many times the only way to get a better paying job is to begin or continue with education.  Finding the time to attend classes can be almost impossible for most people especially working parents. Luckily, the huge market of individuals looking to complete higher education, the market has emerged offering busy people affordable classes that can be completed at home with elearning software.

 

Elearning has grown so much over the years and many more people are taking advantage of it.  I have taken many E-learning classes and actually prefer them over the regular classroom.  I love that I am able to move at my own pace.  I use to hate being in class when someone would ask a thousands of questions and slow the whole class down now! Now I don’t have to worry about that!

Reduces travel cost and time to and from school! This is a Big plus when gas prices are as high as they are now!

Class work can be scheduled around personal and professional work which is great for busy parents. I always tried to do mine while the kids were sleep…

Today’s elearning tools go beyond computers to include MP3 players, podcasts, blogs and more. You can also Check and copy information from the professor’s daily or weekly blog, including the course syllabus, assignment changes, study notes and other important information.

*Easily E-mail or text message study partners to set up study sessions and get answers to each other’s questions about the material they’re studying.

*Log in to an online forum or visit a private chat room to discuss the topics being studied with the other students in the class.

The list goes on and on why E-learning is such a great thing. Of Course with anything they are Disadvantages of e-Learning. Especially when the Instructor is not always available on demand and you might have to wait days for them to respond to emails.  Also if the person is Unmotivated or with poor study habits they may fall behind so you really need to take time to decide if e-learning is for you.
