Macau: More than just gambling

Known to many as the “Las Vegas of the East”, Macau is a city full of lights and excitement. Situated on the western banks of the Pearl River Delta less than 70 km from Hong Kong, the autonomous territory is not only one of the most densely populated cities in the world but also one of the richest. Exciting discoveries can be made around every corner, which is why it’s no big surprise that Macau has recently become a popular tourist destination for many people around the world. This exciting place has something to offer for everyone. We’ll show you which attractions you definitely shouldn’t miss on your trip.

Senado Square

This beautiful town square will leave you speechless. It’s paved with wave-patterned Portuguese mosaic and in its centre sits an elegant fountain. Take your time to look around and enjoy the splendour of the European-style buildings surrounding you – it’ll be hard to believe that you’re actually in Asia. Senado Square is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site and from here it’s easy to reach many of Macau’s other attractions, including St. Dominic’s Church and the ruins of St. Paul. You’ll also have no problems finding good restaurants in the area.

Ruins of St. Paul

If you come to Macau without visiting the ruins of St. Paul, then you haven’t really been to Macau. They are the most visited attraction in the city and its most treasured icon. The facade and stairs are all that remain of the early-17th-century church. The former Jesuit church was Asia’s greatest monument to Christianity and even today the fusion of architectural styles show Macau’s interesting duality. It’s a busy place, but it has its own unique atmosphere that is not to be missed. In the evenings ,/the ruins are beautifully lit, so it’s worth visiting them during the day and at night.

A-Ma Temple

Built in 1488, A-Ma Temple is the oldest and most famous Taoist temple in Macau. It’s also said that when the first Portuguese sailors arrived here, the locals would only reply with “A-Ma-Gau” (Bay of Goddess A-Ma) thus giving Macau its current name. This is a quieter part of Macau with a rich history and some stunning views, so it’s well worth a visit.

Venetian Macau

When in Rome… or Macau for that matter, you don’t want to miss out on visiting the largest casino in the entire world. The Venetian Macau is a huge entertainment complex on Cotai Strip. Here you’ll find everything you could ever wish for. All of its 3,000 rooms are luxuriously decorated, have Italian marble bathrooms and offer guests over 70 sqm of space. You can shop in one of over 350 exclusive shops, take a ride in a real Venetian gondola or watch one of the great shows.

If you’re interested in luxury, history, shopping, relaxation or a little bit of everything, then Macau is the place for you. This place has everything you could wish for, so it’s not hard to see why it’s getting more and more choose to visit it.

You go to work and come home, and your home is flooded. You have no idea where the water is coming from and start checking the sinks, tubs, and showers, but find nothing. You have nothing left to do but contact an emergency plumber.

The problem with this scenario is that you may not know anything about this company but randomly called from the telephone book, and you get a plumber who is going to charge you thousands of dollars when it was actually an easy fix.

Before you need an emergency plumbing company, it is best to start your search long before something goes wrong. Talk with family and friends about the company they use.

Once you have found a few that you might wish to use, use this checklist to ask questions:

How long have you been in business?
Do you work on refrigerators?
Do you work on spas and saunas?
What products do you use?
Can you provide licensing?
Can you provide references?

Ask about different scenarios when you might need a plumber so you can get a quote if anything does occur. You may learn that some will not even provide a guesstimate while others will offer a range. It would be best to go with a company that will at least provide you with a price range with the idea that you know it could be a bit below or above this first figure.

Also call references and ask questions. Did the company perform a professional task? Did it take longer than they stated? Did they stay close to their quote? How far from the quote was the actual price?

The one thing you should remember is that to ensure you never have issues like this; it would be best to have your plumbing checked at least twice yearly just like you do your air conditioner and heater. This way, you will never be surprised when a part wears out and causes a flood. You can have the worn part replaced before anything bad occurs.

Never try to do the work yourself, if the floor is flooded, you can be in danger from electrocution or may cause other damages if you are not sure where or what the plumbing problem is and do not have the knowledge on how to fix the issue. Perhaps you are already familiar with the meditation world, in which case you know about guided imagery. Also called visualization, this meditation practice has been used by individuals from all around the world for centuries. An introduction to guided imagery can help you learn the basics of this meditation technique and implement it into your daily routine. Here we’ll look at what guided imagery is, why you might find it helpful, and how to get into the habit of practicing it.

What is it?

Guided imagery is just what it sounds like: using images and visualizations to help guide you through an issue or uncertainty in your life circumstances. By focusing on an image, you may be able to better perceive the direction you should take as well as how to go about it. In today’s busy world, we are often running around and crowded with noise and thoughts to truly listen to our inner selves. But it is often our inner selves that know just what we need. All we have to do is listen and pay attention. This is how an introduction to guided imagery can help you.

Why Use it?

Why not? This form of meditation can be done by anyone, regardless of whether or not they’ve meditated before. It is a particularly appealing meditation practice because it focuses on the connection between body and mind. Maybe this image is related to something you want to achieve, or a person you admire, or a religious figure that you worship. It could also be a scene playing out, such as scoring a goal, receiving a good grade, or something similar. Some individuals use music as their focus, so whatever works best for you, do it. Just visualizing for a few seconds at a time can help you make drastic changes to your way of thinking.
