OMG I am so embarrassed but can’t stop laughing at the same time! The 2 oldest kids are in chorus and stay after school 1 day a week for practice. The Kids have been hinting around lately that they didn’t want to do it anymore since they are getting older and busy with other after school activates and sports so being the mother I am I told them the decision was theirs.
So Last week I get a letter reminding me I need to pay for the new chorus Shirts. I clearly remember asking the kids if they are going to stay or leave chorus. Dre Said he is done and wants to focus more on basketball and Jasmine was not sure. I told her to make up her mind because I am not going to pay for that expensive stupid t-shirt if she is not going and nothing else was ever said on the topic till tonight!
They didn’t go to practice this week and decided they were done so I was like ok it’s whatever you want. Last Night As I was looking through my blackberry I see a missed call and voice mail. I didn’t recall the number so I listened to the voice mail and it was THE CHROUS TEACHER!! You could hear in her voice that she was looking for the right words to say so she didn’t offend me but apparently she stopped Jasmine in the hallway and ask her why she was not at practice instead of Jasmine telling her she didn’t want to be a part of the group any more she threw me under the bus!! She told her teacher that I said those t-shirts are just too expensive and not worth it and I have better things to spend my money ON!! I wanted to die, But WAIT IT GETS BETTER!! She says that she knows that with the economy so bad that she understands that 2 shirts might be a little too much for me now and she would hate the kids to drop out because of a shirt and offered to help and asked me to call her back.
As I set there lost for words and laughing at the same time I ask Jasmine to come downstairs. I ask Jasmine why she told her teacher that and of course she was like no I didn’t, then when I told her that the teacher just called she was in shock! She said “she called you” I was like yup then she just started grinning cause she already knew she had been caught!. I talked to jasmine and explained to her again what I said and meant.
After she went upstairs I called the teacher back on her cell. I couldn’t wait till the next morning I hated the thought that of her even thinking that. We are the type of parents that will go without to make sure the kids get what they want and need plus WE ARE NOT WHAT YOU WOULD SAY STRUGGLING! I explained to the teacher what was said and let her know that if jasmine wants to stay I will send the money the next practice. I don’t know if she fully believed me or was just busy and needed to get off the phone because it was a really short conversation.
I don’t understand why she just didn’t ask my son everyone at school knows jasmine always says the first thing that comes out of her mouth without thinking. Now I am trying to remember anything else I have said that could be twisted that she has went back and repeated! No wonder everyone at school is super nice to me they probably have heard an ear full and think I am a complete NUTCASE!!
OH AND GET THIS JASMINE SAYS SHE DOESN’T WANT TO BE IN CHROUS!! WISH YOU WOULD HAVE TOLD YOUR TEACHER THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE KIDDO!
OOPS! lol KIDS!!!! I seriously wouldn’t worry about what the school or anyone else thinks of you and your family though, none of their business if you’re in hard times or not. Just tell the teacher, the kids don’t want to do it anymore they’ve got other after school activities that they deem more important.

Oh that is a funny story,I think it was nice of the teacher to offer to help even though she didn’t know the whole story.
Well when gillian went to public schools, she was getting state insurance. Well I would pack Gillian’s lunch and send it with her all of a sudden I get a not sayin she qualified for free lunchs. How so when my husband was making almost 17 an hour. I still do not get it. Plus I bought extra for her class room for the children who couldnt afford the things they needed. What good that did she got pulled 2 months later.

Oh goodness! I totally understand how you feel. We have had similar situations..my stepdaughter has a tendency to leave out important parts of stories or distort the facts so she doesn’t look bad. LOL
One year when my stepdaughter was in elementary school she insisted she didn’t want to buy/make valentine’s to pass out. We told her that others would probably be giving her some and that she should reciprocate…she REALLY didn’t want to…so we didn’t buy/make any. So Valentine’s day comes at school and she comes home with all these valentine’s and candy and stuff. We told her it just didn’t seem fair she took all that with giving nothing in return. She said, “Oh, I did. I told my teacher my parents didn’t buy me any so she gave me some extras she had.” I was so embarrassed.
She did something similar when they needed a plain white t-shirt to decorate for field day. She never told us about it or gave us the note so, of course, she didn’t have a shirt. She told her teacher we just didn’t buy her one! Ugh…so the teacher bought one for her! We made her work to earn the money to pay the teacher back and tell her the truth.
That is too funny. Kids just think they’ll never get caught. Your Jasmine and my Jasmine sound a little too much alike 🙂 LOL. Found you through Blogs of Color. Congrats on being their featured blogger.

Help! Can anyone tell me what to do? I am no fluent in English, I felt humiliate when i volunteer in my daughter class room, the teacher treated me like an invisible. She never speak and distribute works to me, I tried to speak with her, but she seem like too busy all the times. what should I going to do? should I stop my duty? or just pretending nothing happen, Can anyone teach me how to write a canceled volunteer in the class letter to the teacher?
