I’ll be honest I usually keep Politics and Religion opinions to myself because we all know how it turns out.  Today I am breaking my Rule… many of my friends, family and even you my readers have ask where I stand on this Health Care Bill. So Instead of having to say it more than one time I am posting it HERE!!  But Please Be warned I have VERY STRONG FEELINGS ON THIS…And I am not up for anything other than maybe a clean healthy debate..And If I have my facts wrong please call me out and show me the proof.  BUT I WILL NOT HAVE ANY BASHING ON BLOG PERIOD…
When it comes to our health care system, we all agree that America NEEDS a change but, this bill not the solution we need! This bill is NOT even real health care reform; it’s just  tweaking of the health insurance not the OVER ALL health care.. The healthcare problem has always been the cost, which is driven by the cost of medical care, insurance, law suits, and Taxes and administration.  I don’t see Any where in this Bill where it’s going to cut cost..Correct me if I am wrong.. But All I am seeing is Everyone NOW IS Eligible for healthcare Insurance..
Hell to be honest we don’t really have a clue what’s really in the bill and I highly doubt those who voted for DO EITHER…
I will admit there is a few pro’s to the bill which I will list …
PRO’S
1. Everyone Eligible for health care Insurance
2. Un-married adults younger than 26, you could stay on your parent’s insurance coverage as long as you are not offered health coverage at work
3. No longer be able to deny coverage to children with pre-existing conditions
4.Will require plans to use clear and plain language on insurance forms so that you can easily understand what benefits and what doctors are covered in your plan
5.No longer be able to say NO to your application for whatever visit to the doctor you may have on record. Example finds out that you lied or simply forgot to put something on your application to get insurance.
6. 1600 IRS agents being added as part of the health care bill (OPENS JOBS HEY THAT’S A PLUS)
What Everyone thinks they are getting is not it.. So Everyone is asking me what Are my Real issues and why I think this Bill is BS..So HERE I go..
CONS:
1. Companies over 50 employees have to offer (but not pay for the insurance) so what’s the difference now ? THEY HAVE TO OFFER IT YOU.  True you might be getting it @ GROUP RATE But that can be high 2! .. Hell I could get insurance through my job  now but the cost is so high I wouldn’t bring NOTHING HOME LOL.. ..Thank God that Hubby’s Insurance is good and affordable.
2. Adult Pre-existing condition subscribers can get coverage, but just like any insurance not everything is covered under the plan. Uninsured adults with pre-existing conditions will have access to a high-risk pool. ( MUCH HIGHER RATES) Don’t they already have state pool’s  or private  pools for that where people join up?
3. NO price fixing limits are in this bill. So this means that not only you will have to purchase this insurance, the government or other insurance companies can charge you whatever they want an YOU HAVE TO PAY or BE FINED
4. Let’s be honest If you could not afford the insurance to begin with then Most likely you’re not going to be able to afford it now, SO if you don’t qualify for free insurance  from the Gov’t then you get to pay the fine if you don’t chalk the money up.
5. Most people are saying it would be cheaper to pay the fine because the insurance is going to be to higher. I guess that depends.. They say the rates are NOT GOING TO GO UP THAT HIGH But Only time will tell..
6. YOU no longer have the luxury to choose which particular coverage the policy covers for a less premiums. Think about the ones that really never go to the Dr unless it is REALLY NEEDED! Women who can’t have a baby or done having kids Still, your health insurance policy must have maternity services. Men with no kids and single still, health insurance policy must have pediatric services coverage.
7. Health Care Reform Bill is beneficial for the Drug makers now because they have additional millions insured customers who can afford the expensive medicines.
8. The first ten years, it will cost about $100 billion a year.. WHERE THE HELL DO YOU THINK ITS COMING FROM.. We are already in debt for years and years to come..
9. Anyone feel unemployment improving? How about your home value? Yea mine went down 5,500 in the last 30 Damn days! You still need a job? Teachers and our KIDS having to MISS SCHOOL DUE TO BUDGET CUTS..  States closing certain schools to save money?? Well sorry SUCK IT UP…. Right now I think way more folks are worrying about putting food on the table and roof over their heads then this. Hell we have waited all these YEARS a few more is not going to kill us MAYBE BY THAT TIME THEY COULD HAVE THE BILL RIGHT!! Right NOW WE NEED TO FOCUS ON GETTING PEOPLE BACK ON JOBS.. BUT THEY DID THAT I FORGOT 1600 IRS agents being added!!
10. If it isn’t good enough for members of congress, why is it good enough for us? CAUSE THEY DON’T really give a fuck about us..If you think otherwise I have no words… BUT if  this bill is so good,  Please tell me why that the people who wrote it, EXCLUDE THEMSELVES from it.
11. IRS will oversee this… ENOUGH SAID
12. The same people sucking the system dry are the ones going to get FREE health CARE and be at the Dr for every little thing.. .. Yes some Do actually Need the Free Health care Insurance I would never deny that.. I am speaking about the welfare moms with all these kids living GHETTO FABULOUS and never had a JOB a day in her life BECAUSE THE GOV’T PAYS HER TO DO JUST THAT! I am sick of my damn tax money paying for people Like that! I don’t mind helping someone who REALLY Needs it but for those just living it up on MY TAXES I HAVE REAL BIG ISSUES ON IT when they are Living BETTER THEN ME AND I WORK!
13. It’s really less, not more access for you. Get ready for longer lines, worse waiting lists, You think you wait long to see the Dr Now.. Yea ok.. You have not seen anything yet. You hate that you wait so long now, but you only spend 5 mins with the Dr.You might get 2 mins now..Because they are going to be so over worked!
14. The actual cost of healthcare is not addressed except to hit doctors even harder. They will have lower re-imbursements, higher taxes and higher costs for their practices which will cause many docs to retire early, switch careers and keep new docs from entering training to begin with.

Do you really think the Dr’s will continue to work If they have to keep taking pay cuts.. I don’t think so! I know I wouldn’t! People always want to think That Dr’s Make soo much money but come on look what they already payout.. Then let’s not get on how the nurses are already overworked! People who have dedicated their education and lives to taking care of us. Patients are demanding low cost care from people who are very highly educated and specialized but expect them to take on more and maybe even a pay cut.  I stand by “ you get what you pay for” and that’s going to include Health Care!
But ok that’s where I stand on it.. I know some of you won’t or don’t agree and that’s fine I am just looking @ the long term and what this means FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD!

Thank you Jen for putting it like this. I am one for the Healthcare Reform bill but I like that you made exact statements that I can see and understand instead of just saying “no it is not good” or ” it will cost us money” or something else stupid like that. You have real valid points. I appreciate that. I currently do not qualify for any healthcare government or not even tho my DH works and I am on unemployment. Nothing, nada. I like that this bill will make healthcare available to me. I had not thought how much that healthcare will cost us. I agree that there needs to be a limit on how much the insurance companies can charge in premiums.

Good job Jen…makes it easier to understand the Pro’s and Con’s. I am totally against the Health Care Bill because it isn’t REFORM, it’s just a bloated bottomless pit of a Gov’t program that will put generations in hock forever…Some, no matter how you explain it will still be for it. I wanted REAL REFORM of the INSURANCE Industry instead…OBAMACARE ROTS !!!

Great post, but you know where I stand on this matter. 🙂 I personally think some of your cons are a bit off, but thats me. I would rather see 100 billion go to our own country and seeing to it that those who can not afford insurance get it, and chances are those who don’t have it that will have to get it can afford it, but just being cheap.
Also, doctors are making more then you think, it is the nurses that do more work in my opinion. I see the nurse longer then the damn doctor.

I think you did a really good job of stating your points. I am pro-HCR, and see some more benefits to it than you do, and disagree with some of your “cons”, but I appreciate the tone you took with the post!

I am still on the fence about the bill. As people who own a small business and cant afford health ins(We had to cancel it when the premiums became $2000 a month and there is nothing wrong with us except our age, hubby is 59 and I am 56) I was hoping that there would be a big group policy sort of deal that would offer affordable insurance to us .I dont think that is going to be a reality so I will have to find a job and work until I am retirement age just so we will have insurance. I am 56 and havent worked in 30 years so the chance of being hired is pretty slim. I do like that as long as your child is in school that they can be covered until 26. This whole health care system is so out of control that I think it would be very difficult to come up with a good solution for anyone.
You already know I agree with everything you said. LOL Good job with enumerating the pros and cons. We need REAL reform. The insurance companies need to be stopped from charging us more each year and covering less and less. This bill does not accomplish that. We already pay $800 per month for insurance. The co-pays keep rising and soon we not even be able to afford the premiums because of this bill.
This bill is not for the people who will be forced to follow it, it was written so that the ones who passed it can high five each other and secretly thank God they don’t have to follow it themselves.
