If you keep up with me on my personal Facebook or follow me on Instagram I am sure you have seen I’m back using coupons again. My stock pile was down to nothing, and my family kept asking when I was going to start couponing again! The last time I went on my coupon fix I managed to stock pile 2 years’ worth of stuff. This helped us alot financially especially when I wasn’t making as much money on my blog during the slower months.
So the last few weeks I have been trying to get back into my groove. Thankfully we have some great bloggers that post store match-ups so that makes my job even easier! I have also found some great new couponers on instagram to follow that share photos, videos and breakdowns from their transactions. So far my favorite stores to use coupons are at Kroger, CVS and of course Walmart! I have been very lucky to find plenty of coupons from Walmartthat I can also use in addition to price matching other store ads in the area. So this saves me even more time since my local Walmart is on 3 minutes away.
However, I admit the last couple of weeks it’s been all about Kroger and CVS. They have been having great sales! I also love the fact that Kroger doubles coupons and CVS gives back ecb to use on your next purchase. Now if walmart started doubling coupons my life would be complete. I have also noticed that it’s still best to compare prices. I have found many sale prices at other stores for items that are actually lower at walmart with their everyday price. So it’s still very important for me to check walmart’s prices first. I also try to keep watch on upcoming weekly ad scans; this allows me to see if it’s actually a better sale the current week or the next. Plus it allows me to order, print and try to score the number of coupons I need for the following weeks.
I am not going to lie and say couponing is easy! I find myself spending hours and hours each week cutting and sorting coupons. However, the savings are well worth it. I admit I do better with non-food items like health and beauty products and of course cleaning supplies. I will say now that I am learning the ropes at Kroger, I do ok with food items but I’m still not where I want to be. But that’s OK! Since my main focus is to actually save on the products and brand names that I actually prefer it always works out. I refuse to buy something I won’t use just because it’s on sale and I have a coupon for it. Unless, I can give it to someone who would really use it.
I also make sure I stock up on items that I can donate to the kid’s school nurses. I was shocked how little their budget is so I try to make sure they stay stocked up with the things that the kids might need during school.
So here is a couple of pictures of my last coupon haul! I am actually amazed that I haven’t spent more than $35 out of pocket! I still have a long way to go to build up to where i was but i know i can do it!
