Last week I shared with you about Stacy DeBroff and Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes partnering with Zoo Atlanta’s “Boo at the Zoo event. Unfortunately we were not able to make it to the event like I planned. If you read my Facebook you know my son made the 7th grade basketball team. So Of course he had his first all day practice that day! I was really excited and looking forward about covering the event and meeting Stacy but the kids come first.
However, I was still able to ask Stacy my questions and you can read the questions and answers below. .
What are some ways parents can help younger kids understand and stop the spread of germs at school?
Particularly with younger kids, we as parents can teach simple, concrete tips like coughing and sneezing into your elbow instead of your hands, not sharing snacks or drinks in the school cafeteria, and washing hands frequently. And even young kids can learn to keep their hands clean while out-and-about by carrying Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes in their backpacks. By instilling these habits early, parents can help children start off on the right path toward staying healthy.
Should parents keep smaller kids home from school when they have just a simple cold?
If the cold appears in the active stage — coughing, runny nose, sneezing — keep your child home from school. Also, err on the side of caution if your child seems to be coming down with something by having him stay home from day care or school for a day.
What changes should parents make at home during cough and cold season to keep kids healthy?
To keep kids healthy during cough and cold season, encourage them to get enough sleep by sticking to nap schedules for younger kids and keeping bedtimes consistent for older ones. And don’t forget to prepare healthy meals with lots of fruits and vegetables. When a cold does run through your family, go into laundry overdrive and wash your kids’ pillowcases and sheets in very hot water – even daily, if you can.
What should they do outside the home to prevent bringing home germs?
One of the best solutions centers around frequent handwashing, but we Moms know it can be tough to accomplish when daily activities take us away from soap and water. Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes provide us with the opportunity to keep kids’ hands clean while on-the-go — regardless of our location.
She gave some great answers to questions that I am always asking myself especially when it comes to sick kids and school! If you are a regular reader you know I hate parents that send their sick kids to school and get mine sick. I always keep my kids home when they are sick. Especially the first 24 hours. That gives me enough time to get medication in them to help fight it off.
I even picked me up a couple of boxes of Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes Singles this week to pack in Jada’s lunch! I always keep hand sanitizer in the kid’s book bags throughout the year but after trying the wipes I think they will be a great addition in keeping my kids’ germ free.
