There are few characters as iconic as Batman. With his dark, brooding gaze and stream of cool gadgets, Batman has captured people’s attention ever since he first appeared in comics. Come Christmas time, Batman toys are going to be flying off the shelves, yet again. In light of that, here are some reasons why Batman, and his toys, have managed to stay so popular throughout the years.
Out of all the superheroes, Batman is the one that people can relate to most. He’s not this alien from outer space, nor does he have any super power. He’s “just” a human, so it’s easier for kids to put themselves in his shoes. That makes action figures and toys bearing his likeness a hot sell, as his story is more relatable. Kids imaginations can run wild with Batman’s world and the various players in Gotham.
Speaking of Gotham, the fact that it’s based of New York adds to Batman’s mystique. It makes the character even more someone that people can identify with, and it keeps the fun and imagination going for the kids.
Part of the appeal for the Batman toys are how much the dads like playing with them too. Kids love playing with their dad, and playing with a toy character that mom or dad loved is a great way to strengthen the bond between each other.
A villain who can only survive in subzero temperatures. A man who speaks in riddles. A baddie that decides his actions based on a coin flip. These are but a few of the characters that make up the Batman universe. They’re so unique and out there, but yet, strangely believable so you can’t help but to become hooked. That’s why it’s such a popular costume during Halloween, people have so many choices!
While Batman lives in comic books and cartoons, it’s recent explosion in popularity is due to the critically acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy. It’s a whole different experience once you see a character on the big screen, and with those movies Batman experienced new life in modern culture. And that’s why Batman toys will be flying off the shelves this holiday season, so you better stock up.

True, eating a lot of healthy food is better than a lot of junk food, but it’s still not okay. You could eat 10 very healthy bananas, but it will still be way too many calories going into your body.
Wrong. Eating very little or no food will only make your metabolism slow down. A really slow metabolism makes weight loss almost impossible. Eat healthy food regularly in smaller amounts. Don’t cut food out altogether.
True, you shouldn’t be eating greasy cheeseburgers, but natural fats are a necessary part of your diet. Natural fats keep you fuller for longer, stop cravings and have heart-healthy benefits. Keep the avocados and nuts in your diet!
Yes, you shouldn’t cut out all of your favourite foods. But you should not have a scheduled day where you eat as much as you want. Cheat day ruins everything you’ve done all week, it confuses your metabolism and also reinforces a bad mindset that healthy eating sucks. Alter your lifestyle, prioritise healthy eating and just have a slice of cake every now and then!
No, you can’t. Your calorie intake should be balanced throughout the day, so as not to mess up your metabolisms’ cycle. In fact, you should really be eating more in the morning so you can burn it off during the day.
Not really – you should stop eating by 7pm roughly, so all the food doesn’t sit in your body and turn into fat while you sleep.
No, crash dieting is very unhealthy for not only your physical wellness but also your mental wellbeing. Do not crash diet.
No, a balanced, all round diet causes weight loss. Put down the grapefruit, you won’t drop 10 kilos in a nanosecond.
Most fruits aren’t high in complex carbohydrates, which is what the body needs after a night of sleep. Have a good, hearty breakfast, you’ll see much better results.
There you have it. Get these myths out of your head and the weight should practically fall off!

Does anyone remember when everyone was into color contact lens as a fashion trend? I know I do. When I was a teen, I remember that was the “in” thing. It seemed like everyone was changing his or her eye colors with the help of contact lens. The truth is nobody even needed them, this was all about making a fashion statement! That also meant we were purchasing them without a prescription! Now that I am a mom, it kills me to think my teens would do something so crazy as that! To be honest I really didn’t think people were still doing it! LOL that was so 90’s..However My Son went to homecoming this weekend so of course i took plenty of pictures and was posting to Instagram. That also meant i was watching hash tags and noticed a lot of teens are bringing back the colored contacts as a fashion statement again!
So with homecoming dances, Halloween and all the other fall events Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., manufacturer of ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses, aims to remind us, especially teens how important it is to practice safe contact lens wear and care. Thankfully my kids love their beautiful eyes just the way they are so I don’t think I will have to even deal with that. However I still want to do what I can to help any other teen prevent eye damage and stress the importance in eye care. Did you know that according to the American Optometric Association’s 2013 American Eye-Q® consumer survey, 17 percent of Americans have worn decorative contact lenses that don’t provide vision correction as part of a costume or for other cosmetic purposes. Of those individuals, 24 percent purchased them without a prescription from a source other than an eye doctor.
The truth is wearing decorative contact lenses may seem fun and harmless but it can actually permanently damage vision. The American Optometric Association advises consumers that all contact lenses are classified as medical devices by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and require a valid prescription. So, no matter the reason for wanting to use contacts please see a licensed eye care professional to get a safe fitted pair! Don’t take a chance on your eye health just to make a fashion statement!

DO:
Wash and rinse your hands thoroughly with a mild soap and dry with a lint-free towel before handling your lenses
Put in your contacts before you put on your makeup or any costume paint.
Remove lenses immediately if you experience eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, and redness of the eye or other problems and promptly contact your eye care professional
Always remove, clean and disinfect your lenses according to the schedule recommended by your eye doctor
DON’T:
Wear another person’s lenses
Wear lenses longer than the time frame recommended by your eye doctor
Rinse your lenses in water from the tap or expose them to any water—such as swimming or showering—while wearing them
Use anything aside from recommended solution by your eye doctor, such as saliva, to lubricate your lenses
Now you can keep track of your individual contact lens replacement schedule with the ACUMINDER® Tool, a free service that sends an automatic reminder via email and/or cell phone text message on when to replace contact lenses, when to order new lenses and when to schedule an eye exam. Registration is free and open to all contact lens wearers so be sure to sign up today at http://www.acuminder.com

A leak can be a very costly problem for your home if it goes unnoticed. When your water bill arrives, you will be paying for the water wastage even on a small leak. One drip per second can amount to 2,000 litres a month, which is a staggering amount to go down the drain under your nose, as you are literally flushing away good water and money. There are a few methods an experience plumber like Capital Plumbing would suggests to check your home for leaks and help you keep your pipes in good condition.
You are not required to be a professional to check your toilet for leaks. Before you call a tradesman to assess the situation, it’s a good idea to check your lavatory yourself to see if it is in working order.
By adding food colouring to the water in your cistern you can determine if it’s leaking; check a few minutes later to see if your bowl is showing any traces of the colour. Also try removing the top of the tank and listening for any hissing sounds. If you can hear something suspicious, assess if you can fix it easily or if an expert needs to be called in to help you. At the end of the day, stopping a leak will save you money even if you have to get a plumber to do it for you. Don’t just focus on leaks into the bowl. The cistern can also leak behind the bowl onto the floor. Place a dry paper towel behind the bowl, and after a few flushes check to see if it is still dry.
Your outside hot water system, taps and irrigation systems will need to be checked for leaks too, once again by looking for spurting drips of water or hissing sounds. Moving from one outside tap to another, check for hissing sounds. If you detect any sounds, mark where on the pipe you hear the hissing and notify a plumber. If you’re not sure which plumber to call, search “plumbers in Atlanta ” or something similar depending on your location to find all of the best plumbers in your area. You can also use this method on your indoor faucets, as well as visually looking for leaks, which can usually be fixed by replacing a washer.
An underground pipe leaking can potentially be one of the hardest leaks to discover and can often go unnoticed, generally making the problem worse. Bright green grass or damp spots in your yard can often help resolve whether your lawn has an underground pipe problem. Other signs of leaks within the walls and floors of your home are damp patches in your ceiling, discoloured or mouldy walls and moist carpets. Damp patches on the ceiling can be concerning if it’s an issue with a leaking roof, which is why it’s important to contact a roofing company in Northwest Arkansas, or a roofing company wherever you are based, to get it sorted right away! If your home is showing any signs of leaking pipes or taps, or you think you may have issues, contact your local plumber immediately.
Leaks can be an expensive surprise. The wasted water really adds up over time, which is bad for conservation and for your water bill. Use the above tips to help resolve if your home has leaks and get in touch with your plumber if you are unsure.
