As many of you know my oldest 2 kids have facbook accounts already. I have very strict rules which they know if they make one slip up facebook is GONE! Currently the only friends they are allowed to have are classmates and family.   I was chosen to be one of the 60  YOURSPHERE Test Drive Mom Thanks to YOURSPHERE and Mom Central.  I was very excited about hearing about the new site just for tweens and teens!
YOURSPHERE is the creation of Mary Kay Hoal, a Davis, CA mother of five determined to provide her children a safe online alternative to MySpace and Facebook. Only children between the ages of 8 and 18 may use Yoursphere, which touts itself as the first youth-oriented social network to guarantee no sexual predators. Joining requires that a parent register first and undergo identification verification. This helps to ensure the safety of the Yoursphere community.
Kids can create their own profile, start a blog, share pictures, or meet up with friends while playing hundreds of free age-appropriate interactive games in the “Our World” section of the site. They can also discuss their interests among the sports, music, fashion, gaming, academics, performing arts and more groups.
My kids love the site so far and I have noticed they are already making new friends. I am glad that I can now feel safe allowing them to actually chat and meet other kids all around the world.
Yoursphere is completely FREE if you want to go ahead test the site out yourself, have your kid sign up by using this code referral code: YSMC-0005 . My kids would love friends so please add them! Â My son is 11 and his user name is dre343 and he is more active on there then my daughter Jasmine who is 10 her username is jas
